Dr. Lucas Wymore is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, with an emphasis on knee and shoulder arthroscopy.  Dr. Wymore is a member of the Centers for Advanced Orthopedics, in the Southern Maryland Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Division.  CAO is one of the largest orthopedic groups in the world with nearly 200 surgeons practicing in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.

He attended the University of Notre Dame where he was a member of the varsity swimming team, earning Monogram Awards. Upon graduation from Texas A&M Medical School, he completed his residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. While there, he provided care for the Tar Heel varsity sports teams. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine in San Diego, California, including care of the San Diego Padres Baseball Club and the San Diego State Aztecs. He joined the Centers for Advanced Orthopedics- Southern Maryland Orthopedic and Sports Medicine division in 2014.

Dr. Wymore’s area of expertise includes Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, ACL Reconstruction, ACL failure Revisions, Complex Knee Injuries, Articular Cartilage Reconstruction, Tommy John’s Surgery, Shoulder Instability and Rotator Cuff Disease.

He has written multiple peer reviewed articles and textbook chapters. He is an active member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, a member Arthroscopy Association of North America, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. He is listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor.

Dr. Wymore and his wife Amanda live in California, Maryland. To remain involved in the community, Dr. Wymore serves as head team orthopedist for St. Mary’s Ryken High School and College of Southern Maryland, as well as serving as a consultant for St. Mary’s and Charles County High Schools. He has also provided care to the US Olympic team at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Outside hobbies include swimming, weight lifting, surfing, and Notre Dame football.
