Our Practice

Dr. Lucas Wymore is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, with an emphasis on knee and shoulder arthroscopy.  Dr. Wymore is a member of the NewportCare Medical Group, in the Murrieta and Riverside offices.  NewportCare is one of the largest orthopedic groups in Southern California with surgeons practicing in Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles counties.

He attended the University of Notre Dame where he was a member of the varsity swimming team, earning Monogram Awards and academic All Big East honors. Upon graduation from Texas A&M Medical School, he completed his residency at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. While there, he provided care for the Tar Heel varsity sports teams. He then completed a fellowship in sports medicine in San Diego, California, including care of the San Diego Padres Baseball Club and the San Diego State Aztecs.He has also provided care to the US Olympic team at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He joined NewportCare Medical Group in 2023 after 9 years of practice in Maryland with the Centers for Advanced Orthopedics. In Maryland, Dr. Wymore was the head team doctor for all sports teams with St. Mary's College of Maryland, College of Southern Maryland, St. Mary's Ryken High School, St. Mary's County public schools, and Charles County Public Schools.

Dr. Wymore’s area of expertise includes Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, ACL Reconstruction, ACL failure Revisions, Complex Knee Injuries, Articular Cartilage Reconstruction, Tommy John’s Surgery, Shoulder Instability and Rotator Cuff Disease. Dr. Wymore is frequently invited to teach other surgeons his techniques at national and international meetings.

He has written multiple peer reviewed articles and textbook chapters. He is an active member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, a member Arthroscopy Association of North America, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society. He has been listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in 2022 and 2023.

Dr. Wymore and his wife Amanda live in Temecula, California. Outside hobbies include surfing, weight lifting, San Diego Padres Baseball and Notre Dame football.
